Thank you all for your kind words. I do what I can to keep this thing afloat. I'm happy to see the lack of nastiness on the forum since I posted this.
PLEASE continue this trend!

Re: [PLEASE READ] A Note From the Administrator
Well, it's kind of tough at times to communicate effectively in this text-only
format. We cannot see each other's faces as we chat, and therefore cannot
send and receive the subtle ques which we would normally in a regular
conversation.
So, things sometimes get all wound around the axle for reasons which
are sometimes difficult to understand.
What might be originated as a funny comment or even just a silly joke
can sometimes come off in an insulting way, although most likely not intended.
So, I think that this mode of communication has its limitations and one of those
is that extra care needs to be used before posting.
And yes, Brandon, you are running this place very well!

Re: [PLEASE READ] A Note From the Administrator
We have lost the art of written communication. Not long ago we all communicated by posted letters. We took our time preparing and writing actual letters (remember them?) We corrected them and worked them until they communicated our exact intent. This also provided the time needed for us to gather together our thoughts and also to "calm down" before responding to a controversial topic.
Now it's a matter of jotting down the first thoughts that come to mind and pressing "enter."
Very often our first thoughts are better left as thoughts and not really communicated to others.
I believe we all need to recognize this problem and just take this into account when we read instantaneous posts on fora such as this one.

This is a serious and most interesting topic and most, if not all, of the dialogue has been thoughtful and sincere. But what stands out the most is the overwhelming consensus that Brandon is doing a fine job and should be very proud of his efforts. Despite the occasional lapses by some members, including perhaps myself, this is, and hopefully will remain, a very civilized place to exchange information and ideas. My thanks to Brandon for making it possible.

I'm retiring this thread to the TMF Tech Support section, I hope I've made my point and we continue to operate as a well-oiled governor!
