Firefox Security Warning for TMF...

I was upgraded to Firefox version 51.0 today, which now displays a warning when a site does not have a secure logon using "https format".

This explains it: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/in ... ng-firefox

I've been reading on some tech sites that future versions of Firefox may automatically block access to "http sites," so I'm wondering if the talking machine forum will be upgraded to https at some point.

Follow-Up

Today, I tried substituting https for http in this site's URL and the following message was displayed:

I realize that only a percentage of this forum's members probably use Firefox, but still, I think some response from the moderators or the administrator is appropriate.

They are one and the same, me. This isn't a paid position, and I've been busy this week.

No, the forum will not be converted to a secure site, there is no reason to do this as there is no sensitive information stored in the database. Firefox will not be blocking non-secure websites. Nobody would use a browser that denies access to 75% of the internet.

Many thanks. Most of what I've heard/read regarding FF has been on various posting sites. Probably just some alternative facts.

For „https“ you have to buy a certificate and pay for it annually. Also, in most cases, you have to book (and pay…) a coder to adapt the server to https. Who will pay for it? I think, this is OK for online-banking and so on, but not really necessary for a forum.

Follow-Up:

I downloaded Firefox 52.0 today -- that's the version I thought (incorrectly?) would be blocking HTTP sites. Instead, a warning message is now displayed at login:

Annoying, and kinda' lame, but I can live with it.

No big deal. So what if your login could be compromised... Like Brandon said, there is nothing on here that could be used against you, used to purchase anything, used for identity theft, etc. and nobody can get your eBay/PayPal info from here to bid on phonographs. This isn't Amazon.com or your online banking portal. The only thing a hacker (without a life) could do is post stuff in your name, IF he/she was willing to spend the time to figure out your user name and password...

The problem is Firefox... so change to a normal browser like Google Chrome or Internet Explorer...

HINT: if any hackers are following this, all you have to do is make up your own user name and password to join and post away... until you get deleted for inappropriate posts...

Oh, I couldn't do that. I'd be going against my base instincts, since there's nothing remotely normal about me, or so I've been told by people when they find out I'm into antique phonographs and 78s. Image
