Gramophone and Typewriter model ?

Post by Gramtastic »

Hi
Anyone know this model - doesn't look exactly the same as any in "His Master's Gramophone" ?
Thanks

Is it really a G&T? It looks like a regular Victor P.

It's a possibility that this was the HMV's equivalent of a Victor P. HMV used nickel in a lot of thier machines, like back brackets and such.

In late 1900 G&T introduced a side wound machine range featuring a metal motor mounting plate such as this, but the machine pictured in this thread has a plainer case than any of these G&T's I have seen. A few more pictures might aid identification.

If the case is about 12.5" or 13" square and has a 10" turntable, I think it is the HMV version of an early Pre-Dog Victor P.

I assume for that price it had no horn / elbow, winding handle?

Are there so few UK buyers these days? Maybe I need to stop the scrap metal collectors when they pass my way next time. I have several travelling arm machines with horns I could throw out.
