Great Dulcephone on UK eBay

Post by Steve »

Blimey, at long last a decent machine for sale on UK eBay! The last Dulcephone similar to this made nearly £2500 at auction. So £1100 seems ok-ish start. Mind you, given the seller and his usual tactics, most onlookers will probably only value this machine at the start bid and therefore pass on it.

No bids yet! And no replies to some questions asked either AND the seller is not busy having another picnic either! He has found time to add a picture of the double-spring motor so why not answer some easy questions, David, call me "DJ Dave"?

I know it is all original and all that and the soundbox/motor/arm/bracket is clearly all correct for this machine but what motor is in it?!! It appears to be double-spring at least.

This must have been the result of bidding frenzy twenty years ago and is hardly typical for the price level of an off brand machine.

an off brand machine
To you, maybe, but not us Brits! Barnet-Samuel & Sons, musical instrument makers since the early 1800's, would go on to make, amongst other things, the famous "Decca" Trench style portables.

And now another example of the same machine. Are they like London buses? Where and when will number three turn up?

It's interesting to note that, as all experts on the TMF very well knew, the machine previously offered by Dave Smith was completely correct. The back-bracket did say "Dulcephone" on it but only on the one side and not the one Dave chose to highlight!

In my humble opinion Guido's machine has the slightly better horn but the plating is better on Dave's machine. Oh yes, and Dave's machine was £1500 cheaper. No contest really, is there?

Have you still got the machine, Dave? Dave?
