So how do you pronounce "Powick"? Is the w silent like in Norwich or Flitwick? If it is silent, how can you tell?

I remember when I was at school, kids regularly teased one another about coming from Powick and this is why:

Thank you, Steve, His Masters Voice and Valecnik for your advice on uploading photos. I had previously attempted to upload these photos from early in the day at Powick using the method His Masters Voice and Valecnik suggested but when one goes into Preview it only shows the file name, so I thought must be doing something wrong.

So, now that I'm back from a few days in Wales, I'll try the Powick photos again - prepare to be underwhelmed!

Hmmm ...

From the pictures, it looks like similar demographics as American phonograph shows. A geezerfest.

Geezerfest? I can't think what you mean by that!

I note I managed to sneak into one of those pictures - fourth down from top - that's me with my back turned to the camera, with my fair lady, discussing the finer details of record collecting and wine drinking with a well known expert!

I'd characterize it more like a group of people with the refined taste that for most only comes with age.

Unfortunately most of their children didn't have the time to accompany them because they were probably too busy playing "Angry Birds" like mine are... :(

........and that's me in the same picture on the left, about to make a purchase.

I think the picture format has been flattened a little. I am slimmer than that!

Yes, I agree Vacelnik, all gentleman of impeccable and refined taste!

The demographic of the CLPGS is, I believe, pretty similar to other Societies around the world. It seems to be a hobby that one grows into with age and with an increase in income and in leisure time.

Fortunately I managed to avoid being photographed - they must have been taken before I arrived.

All the best
