In a way it's odd that not more high quality cylinder machines turn up in the UK. Two of the nicest Idelias I've ever seen were originally sold in the UK. Both are in American collections now as far as I know.
As far as I am aware, this is a "one off" machine which is available for hire to museums and others wishing to digitise their collections, but details of the services which Adrian is able to provide can be found on his website :

Like Steve and Epigramophone, I too attended the Phonofair at Powick and can confirm that it was a great day out. There was plenty to see and plenty to buy and like Steve, I seemed to end up with loads of Pathé discs but from 50p each who could resist? I also came away with a nice haul of four-minute cylinders plus an electrically recorded Edison Diamond Disc. There was good company; it was really great to meet so many enhtusiasts from around the country as well as the party from Romania who came down specially from London. Oh and I also won a bottle of craft cider in the raffle, so how could the day get better? The food was good, pleasantly served and represented excellent value. Many thanks must go to Alan Smith, Richard Taylor and Dave Roberts for organising a great fair.

Don't listen to the ill-natured carping that goes on elsewhere from people who weren't actually there, this is a serious event, now in about its sixth or so year, which just seems to be getting better. So come along next year, all are welcome.

For reasons similar to Steve's, I didn't take my camera but I'll try and track down some photos and post them here.

Best wishes

Until Tim mentioned this I hadn't noticed any "ill-natured carping" elsewhere. Who or what was Tim referring to, I wondered? Well, there is only ONE hate site known to mankind that professes to be connected to the rather small and specialist world of phonographs and gramophones and most of us already know what a nasty and unpleasant individual is behind it. This is borne out by the highly inflammatory and derogatory comments about well known individuals which are spewed out by him on a daily basis. How anyone has the nerve to call someone a friend when, without any provocation, they purposefully divulge matters of privacy for public consumption whilst falsifying ALL the important details to suit their twisted agenda, is quite beyond my comprehension. I'm not even tempted to try to unlock the coded defamatory remarks, despicable lies and insinuations within transcripts I have just been sent to understand what he's trying to say, but like everything else he has ever said, the attacks he is making on moderators here are as outrageous as they are wholly ill-founded and untrue. Does he know a single TMF moderator? I'm doubting it. But why let the truth get in the way of lies, hey? It's just pathetic cyber-bullying and before long the only audience for it will be the originator of this filth, himself, and possibly the police.

But as Tim has already said, just ignore his vitriolic outpourings. At best, they are a result of profound jealousy - he's now effectively alienated himself from all persons and events in this field due to his own abhorrent behaviour - at worst, they demonstrate something far more worrying and sinister. How much notice should anyone take of any individual whose life, as it is portrayed by him, is pure fiction, as he rarely leaves the confines and safety of his bedroom? I'll let you decide on that one! And do I really need to take spelling lessons from someone who evidently can't string more than three words together without making grammatical, punctuation and spelling errors? The English, if you can call it that, is absolutely appalling. Is this the best a public school boy can do today?

My message to anyone who is tempted to respond directly to him on his website about such issues is, be very careful! Like myself, you'll automatically become his next target! And good luck to the new "moderator". Any "moderation" or dignified civilised discussion is totally disallowed!

Oh that nonsense again. It's certainly easier to tear down than to build. Isn't it. You guys have started something and seem to be making a go of it. Hope I can be there next year!

As an aside, can a genuine TMF Moderator please stand up and declare publicly for a certain individual's benefit (who daily reads but is banned from this forum) that "Steve" IS NOT AND HAS NEVER BEEN A TMF MODERATOR ?

THANK YOU! ;)

I certainly can, though I imagine it would have no merit in this situation. I doubt even posting a photo of my drivers license, social security card, and birth certificate would convince said individual. Our fellow collectors of sound mind know who we are, and that's all that matters.

Come on HMV! We all know you live in the council house next door and were lurking around there trying to be inconspicuous, buying up machines and records for "the Ring"
