EMG, Expert and Cascade horn sizes.

Post by emgcr »

Following one or two recent enquiries I thought it might be helpful to list the following:

The bell mouth diameter of the standard EMG, Expert and Cascade horns I have checked or measured are as follows:

Model -------------Diameter in inches

EMG Mk VI--------------24 (Wilson)

EMG Mk VIII------------24 (Wilson)

EMG Mk IX--------------22

EMG Mk X---------------26

EMG Mk Xa--------------28 ⅝

EMG Mk Xb--------------29 ½

EMG Mk Xb Oversize---33 ½

Expert Minor-------------18 ⅜

Expert Junior------------25 (sometimes 24)

Expert Senior------------28 ¼

Expert All Range---------36

Cascade-------------------24 (Wilson)

I have never seen an actual Expert Cadet. (Only in photos).

I would think that the listener would expect to hear a fuller sound from Mk Xa when compared to a Mk X due to the final horn diameter being 2 ⅝ inches larger. Unfortunately, I do not own a Mk X to carry out the experiment. I have, however, been fortunate enough to compare the rest.

Thanks for that Graham. You posted these somewhere before I seem to remember, but I couldn't remember where to find it. A most useful basic chart for all of us.
