Re: Very Rare but does anyone want it ?
Well, not me personally.
Looks like it's been over-stained / varnished quite a lot. It has some worm as noted in the listing. And the tone-arm is completely different "colour" to the rest of it. The soundbox isn't original either. It is unusual though and someone might just want it. The seller is at least someone honest and very reliable so anyone buying shouldn't have any problems.

The only other circular tabletop I have ever seen was a Bandmaster about 30 years ago !

The problem with Hornless models is that they are really only "Table Grands" (I appreciate that only Victor/HMV used "Grand") minus the lids. Now, if this thing only had a domed circular lid - what a missed opportunity for the designer/makers - it could really have set itself apart from a lot of unremarkable boring machines that collectors dismiss very frequently.

If I saw this sitting on a show table for about $100 I'd get it, but I wouldn't pay to have it shipped from the UK. Attractive, but the oval form is the only novelty about it.

Do you remember those triangular gramphones which turned up a lot in the 1980's definitely period and always sold as if they were for rowing boats , but if you put them in the prow you wouldn't have been able to wind them !Steve wrote:The problem with Hornless models is that they are really only "Table Grands" (I appreciate that only Victor/HMV used "Grand") minus the lids. For future reference, here is a pic from the listing that started this thread.
