Apparently "The Repeating Gramophones Ltd" made 9 different models of which only 5 had the repeating function !

Another example, with repeater and condition issues, has just appeared on UK eBay :

Interesting to note that the lid is split almost exactly where it is split on mine. These really are fun gramophones. Lets hope this one finds a good home. Far more interesting than any HMV of the period.
The Three Muses soundbox was even mentioned on the very first page of The Gramophone in 1923.
Here is an ad for the Tremuse soundbox from August 1924. The diaphragm is made from a fiber material.

Here is a link to mine.

Why the name? In Greek mythology there were three graces and nine muses. Assuming no confusion on the manufacturer's part (as with the auctioneer), which three muses are referred to?

Yes there were nine Muses but they represented literature, science, and the arts. I assume the makers were trying to convey that this repeating gramophone represented these three muses.

I like your grouping of nine muses in to three categories. Would it be possible to upload a picture of the logo on the underside of the lid?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muses
However, the classical understanding of the Muses tripled their triad and established a set of nine goddesses, who embody the arts and inspire creation with their graces through remembered and improvised song and mime, writing, traditional music, and dance.
The Tremuse soundbox was very successful and was also used on the company's "Cameraphone".
I've never seen an illustrated advert for any of their gramophones. The non repeating ones turn up sometimes but it's rare to see a repeating one for sale. This one looks complete although a bit battered.
Here's the logo.

Fascinating. Here we see how a study of phonographs provides us with a Classical education! I read the Wikipedia article. It makes perfect sense that the number of muses could or would vary. I'm certainly no scholar of Greek mythology, but i've learned in more recent years that many of the myths I read as a child were in fact based on just one version of these stories, that regional variations of the same basic story existed in antiquity. Thanks for taking the time to upload a picture of the logo and pointing me to the Wikipedia article.

In fitting with the Greek mythology aspect of the machine, was this phonograph also equipped with Castors?

In all my years of collecting, sadly, I've yet to see one with Polluxes.
