Pathéphone No. 10 - Recent Addition

Post by mariof »

Hi All,

I've pretty much stuck to Edison and HMV as far as what I've collected but I do like some of the other machines. Whilst visiting a long time local collector over the holidays I diverged from my usual line to pick up a couple of different machines a Pathéphone No. 10 (Disc) and Pathé Modelle No. 4 (Cylinder). What attracted me to this Pathéphone was the size and the elegant look of the mahogany case which reminds me of a couple of the HMV offerings. The machine is a late model and has a speed control that's rarely seen (the crank) is removed and placed in the "Regulator" hole to adjust speed. The longtime owner told me that the machine originally had a 10" turntable that he replaced with a 12" as he thought it looked better proportioned (I'll have to get suitable 10")

Pictures attached.

Cheers,
Mario
