Thank you for having inderectly confirmed that the detent piece acts differently than in the HMV 102, as I figured.

Do you perhaps remember where you could find a HMV 101 detent piece as a spare part?

I'll look in my spares in the next few days, Marco. If I have one, I'll let you know.

Very sorry Marco, I have five 101 arms and they all have that part either missing or broken. Try sending the photo of the broken rest to Ken Priestly, he can usually help with this sort of thing. ken@fonograf.com

Thank you very much for the e-mail link, Barry, I will write to him. And thank you very much for checking among your spares! Seen the failure rate it's no surprise that this piece was changed to a different design in the 102 model, later.

What I believe this unit is also missing is the turntable clip that usually portables have. However, judging by all pictures posted here, and by Graham Barber's unit as well, it seems that none of them has the clip. Are these all missing, or was the 130 sold with no clip perhaps? Anyone knows?

All Garrard motors were supplied with the clip as standard, but a lot of them have disappeared over the years. They are essential on portable machines, as when they are carried on their sides, the turntable is liable to fall off.

Marco, one of these clips I definitely DO have, so if you want it, send me a PM with your name and address, and I'll pop it in the post for you.

Thank you very much!

It's a pity that the top clips have so many pressed parts, because the bottom "corners" have such an easy shape that I could craft them at home quite easily.

Step by step, I have completed the last works on my Decca Salon 130. The correct handle, if my memory doesn't fail, came from a joint purchase lead by fellow Phono48, who divided between a bunch of collectors the parts of a too-far-gone 130. I've had the handle chromed by a small factory in town (the boss, quite amazingly, didn't want any money and was happy with a coffee offered to all the workers) while I took personally care of the wooden part with some fine sandpaper and "nitro" spray enamel.

When it came time to re-assemble the parts, the retaining clip, which could stand the brute force used to disassemble the handle, and which has been already carefully cured with anti-rust enamel, to my amazement fell split in two when I tried to clip it back to the handle. :?

Fortunately it was quite easy to craft a replacement part from a small piece of scrap brass. Again not without amazement, the handmade clip works just perfectly.
