Horn connector for Pathé cylinder phonographs

Post by john9ten »

Has anyone else seen these? I received my Pathé rubber horn connector (manchon in French) from Théo Micallef in France yesterday. It is of beautiful quality. The second and third pictures below are his reproduction next to an original. The fourth pic is the neck of his monchon, and the fifth is the end that its onto the horn. With the exception of the lettering which appears on the originals, they are a good match. Also, note that he has had MP (Micallef Phonographes) imprinted in relief on the neck so that it is not mistaken or represented as an original Goon ethical idea!
No one has reproduced these for some time, and the last repros I am aware of were black, not the red color like the originals. They may seem expensive at approximately $40, but the cost to produce them is high. He is not making much money off of these; it's his desire to produce a good product for collectors of Pathé machines that is driving him to manufacture these.
If you have a Pathé cylinder phonograph, I can recommend this monchon highly! Very good job, Théo!
