Hello all,
I saw this little guy posted locally. I was excited to see it as it was 4 minutes from my house but when I got there I saw the mess..
The unit is an Alba Gramophone but thats all I know... Mine unfortunately was stripped, polyurethaned, grill was tossed out, and parts were lost like the bottom knobs and whole tonearm assembly. The main spring is shot too. lol
I don't know why I bought it but I did...

I am looking for any tonearm and reproducer that will work. How do I measure for one? I was told that I had to measure from the center of the spindle to the center of the tonearm hole. That measurement is 8". I want to start looking on eBay and other places but I don't know what to look for. Any help finding one here or some info so I can look elsewhere would be really appreciated...

Thanks,
Kirk

Well, quite obviously it was converted to an electro-magnetic pick up at a point in history. Honestly, it doesn't look too bad in your pictures. The front grill has quite an easy contour that doesn't require any machinery to be reproduced; if you're quite good with the fretsaw it will be an amusing task. I also think that finding a tonearm that fits will not drive you nuts, it's really nothing special, or at least so it seems by the first picture.

For a replacement spring, try to contact user soundgen on this forum, he's very knowledgeable about european springs. Ask him also about the tonearm.

Probably a 20 mm or 22mm eye/eye spring , see these springs on Ebay , short spring 2,500mm for use in spring barrels approx 65 to 70 mm diameter , longer spring for diameter 75mm to 80 mm diameter

For an early electric pickup that is a nice one. Goldring is still in business.

I like the tonearm but I want one like the original, not electric.

I added info to the post so any help is appreciated.
