CLPGS Jazz releases coming?

Post by billybob62 »

I just went to the City of London Phonograph and Gramophone Society website:

http://www.clpgs.org.uk/

To inquire about buying their indestructable cylinder recording of " O Soave Fanciulla" from La Boheme
and I was hit in the face with a very hot jazz clip which was unidentified.
Could anyone tell me what it is?
TIA,
John

"Just close your pretty eyes
And close your pretty lips
And give your little baby lots of loving
Open up your heart
And open up your arms
And give your little baby lots of loving
Just cuddle closer and hold me tight!
Tomorrow morning we'll say good night.
Close your pretty eyes
And close your pretty lips
And give your little baby lots of lovin'

Dear Billybob62

Did you find the information you were looking for regarding the CLPGS Masters Series? All titles are still available although we only have 1 copy left of MS3 and we happily post within 48 hours to anywhere in the world.

If you need any further information please either PM me here or drop me an e-mail at twoodwoolley@clpgs.org.uk

Glad you liked the burst of music at the start of the web site.

All the best

Oh, I forgot to add:

Edison 52495, "Give Your Little Baby Lots Of Lovin'" sung by Ermimie Calloway accompanied by "The Seven Blue Babies" (a Dorsey Brothers recording group).

That record can sound MUCH better than the CLPGS transfer.

Berlin Phonograph Works has it out on 4-minute cylinder, actually, if it's one you want. I have heard that their records are high quality, but they go out of print fairly quickly.

Thanks all.
I have Normans great cylinder but the CLGPS clip sounds different and I didn't think it was the same group doing it.

Dear all,

To solve this little puzzle, it's actually taken directly from Blue Amberol 5682 "Give Your Little Baby Lots of Loving" by, as rightly stated, Ermine Calloway and the Seven Blue Babies.

It may possibly be a different take from the one used by Norman, particularly if he dubbed it from a disc.

All the best
