Very sorry to hear the news. I am sure all out local chaps will also keep a lookout for this machine in our local auction houses-both Tamlyns in Bridgwater, and Clevedon salerooms, in the Somerset area, which both sell gramophones at times. The 78s may be more difficult to trace...?
I imagine that it will probably be offered for sale abroad. I should think that a decent Mk 9 is worth over £2000 at today's prices-perhaps more. We have often jokingly said how difficult it would be to steal one of these external horn machines, but this has shown us now just how wrong we can be.

Mike, was it yours, or are you just spreading the news? I'm so sorry to read this. It looks like it was stolen on commission, I can very hardly imagine a common thief interested to such a voluminous object impossible to resell, they usually look for jewelry or perhaps digital cameras and that kind of high-tech stuff.

I have a phonograph oriented instagram account with a few hundred followers, I'll post a photo or two there... from where did it go missing, a town in England?

That's great , 69 views already , I don't suppose anyone has a Facebook or Twitter account with lots of followers as well that they could post it on ? That would also spread the word and render it increasingly difficult to sell this legally , without removing the serial number and the "fingerprint2 marks of the damage

Took a screenshot, and will share this to the APS group on FB.
Edit: shared the screenshot and the ATG article.

I will be chairing a meeting of the CLPGS West of England Group this afternoon, and will spread the word.

Roger.
