Quick fix on a Pathé Menestrel

Hi all,

I've been asked to nickel plate some pieces and on of them was this (horrible) piece (on the right of the picture). It's the tube that connects the reproducer and horn on a Pathé Menestrel phonograph.

I sent to the owner the picture and asked him if he wanted the "pretty" or "ugly" version of it and you can guess the answer.

I also confirmed him that I could do the narrow extension that he needed for fitting his horn.

The swivelling portion was also badly fixed with something that looked familiar but I needed some time to realize what it was: A piece of a faston connector blade!

This is the proof:

So I chamfered the remains and fabricated a new extension. I soldered it with silver-tin to make a strong joint and after some filing this is the result:

A careful alignment of the holes is needed to place the connector and avoid rubbing the sides. I also made two screws (a vast improvement to the nail of the previous version :-) )

And here it is awaiting to be nickel plated with the other pieces. This afternoon I will upload the picture of it nickel plated.

The owner sent me some pictures of the new piece installed in his Pathé Menestrel. I'm very happy to see how well it blends with the other pieces.
