Yes they are one and the same thing, now almost entirely replaced by synthetic glues which the woodworm don't like the taste of.

Re: EMG Restoration Project
Many thanks for these interesting photos Roger and, as you say, the benefits of "progress" are to be debated.epigramophone wrote: I have searched my collection of period record covers but have yet to find one for Merriott's of Bristol, although one may still be lurking around somewhere. Meanwhile, here are some views of Redcliffe Hill showing the results of what some call progress.
Any other insights you may come across would be very much appreciated. I note that the manager of Merriotts is M.L.Clark (without an "e") so there may be no connection to the Clifton D.L.Clarke (with an "e").
Incidentally, you might be amused by the scene when we came to remove the horn from the still progressing auction. There was no option but to bring it forward right through the hall passing the auctioneer who stopped the proceedings and asked where I was going to be able to find sufficient tobacco ! I murmured something about old age and needing a large ear trumpet.............

I would love to see your EMG collection sometime Graham, I imagine a visit to your house is like a musical equivalent of unveiling of Tutankhamen's tomb

I'll probably take you up on that Graham, I'll find a place to stay and make a little trip of it
