Decca Junior 2A - ball bearing, or no ball bearing?

Hi all - hopefully someone can help.....

I've recently refurbished a Decca Junior, bringing it back from the brink of being scrapped. It works fine now, will easily play through a side of a 78, but is much noiser in operation than my other 4 wind-ups. The spring is quiet, there are no loose screws or fittings - the noise comes from the rotating turntable. It's a low humming noise.

So, I got to wondering whether the turntable spindle should be supported by a ball bearing? There isn't one there at the moment, and this is the first Decca machine that I've had, so I've no previous experience to go on. Trawling the internet has resulted in nothing helpful, so I thought I'd try asking a bunch of people who know what they're talking about - which is why I've ended up here!

I've put some videos of the refurbished Decca on Youtube - here's 'Pack up your troubles' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7xKs1N87EL8.

Any advice gratefully received....

No ball bearing in these Swiss motors, although there ought to be! They are notoriously noisy.

Thanks Barry - I'll just have to get used to the backgroud noise then!
