The "All-Range" horn is fabulously rare, one of the reasons being that it is too wide to pass through the standard UK domestic doorway measuring 30 inches in width.

There is a story, almost certainly apocryphal, that any prospective purchaser would be asked for the address of their field so that they could build their house around the horn!

This advertisement actually shows an Expert Senior with a final bell-mouth diameter of just over 28 inches. The visual impact and proportions of the 36 inch All Range are rather different.

Fascinating Graham, and the difference is noticeable when pointed out and contrasted with the help of photographs.
Tantalisingly, none of the photos show the connection for the horn at the rear.
I think I was told that, unlike the EMG XB Oversize horn which had the same size connection to the gramophone conduit (can't remember the technical word!)as the ordinary Xb horn, the Expert All Range horn had a unique connection size of its own, different to that of the Expert Senior horn. It seems such a bothersome way to manufacture that it'd be interesting to see a few.

Yes, interesting point and one that needs checking out. From a manufacturing point of view it would seem to be complete madness to make an even bigger horn connection than the Senior for a gramophone produced in such tiny numbers. That said, of course, we are not dealing with totally commercially rational considerations here and expensive larger patterns just might have been produced. In my view, it is more likely that it was only the bell which was extended, however, common sense does not always prevail !

I shall take measurements at the same time as comparing the tonearm lengths (see separate post http://forum.talkingmachine.info/viewto ... 76#p223576) when the opportunity next presents itself.

That one in the second photo is gorgeous!

Yes, the best on the planet I imagine---possibly unique with that wonderful pedestal case ? I think it is now to be found in the Far East. They love to give public performances in those parts.
