Tapped the cover off an early decca portable spring case, and the it wants to pull the spring out with it. The spindle wont disconnect from the spring. I have done a few spring services in other machines, but the spindle just came out easily. Advice please?

I got it done. A soak in wd40, and some twisting, with a little force freed the locating lug
