Yes there was. The Nouveau Phonographe Pathé range of c1902 comprised Models 0,1,2,3 and 4.

Some are pictured in "The Illustrated History of Phonographs" by Daniel Marty, ISBN 0-88029-388-8.

Hello , some may think what I am about to say is a little pedantic , but I am an adherent of accuracy -- to be correct , there is no such thing as a Pathé Pathéphone No 1 phonograph -- presuming you mean a cylinder player , to use the European terminology. Pathé only used the word Pathéphone when referring to their disc talking machines , they always referred to their cylinder players as phonographs -- some of which in the early years were sold as Graphophones when Pathé were manufacturing their own copies of Columbia cylinder machines. Actually I meant a phonograph, not cylinder.

Disk Phonographs from Pathé were A, B, C, D, E in the first series in 1906, and 2, 4, 6 etc to 18 in the open horn type from around 1909.

then it gets a little foggy with Olophone models and tabletop pathephones, Salons, Concerts.....from 1914 onwards, with old models also being renumbered.

Do you have a machine that needs to be ID'd?

Thanks for the info, No I have an ID on it, it's a No. 2.
But I've noticed on this model the cabinet trim has changed once or twice?

The Pathéphone Jeunesse, the little one with internal aluminum horn, was also sold as nr 1

Of course the most precise route to take for a definitive answer is to post a photo.
