Re: My new Expert Junior
Although I haven't taken it apart yet, I've a strong suspicion the motor has already been worked over, it runs smoothly, quiet and there's also a nice new cable on it, I'll have a look when I get it home

The eagle has landed, returned to the depths of Cumbria today with the Junior in tow, here's a few better photos, as the first picture suggests, I'm pretty happy with it!

Again, congrats Alex!! What a great looking machine and I'm sure it sounds amazing.
You'll certainly have many decades of enjoyment with it.

Very cool. You're a young guy but you hit the apex already, so what next?

A really beautiful example Alex---superb. I am sure we should all love to hear/see a video when you have time. Good thinking too with the position in the corner of the room---use the walls/ceiling as a horn extension ! Many thanks for the wonderful photos.

Re: My new Expert Junior
Thanks guys it certainly does sound good, especially after a little bit of tweaking, the soundbox was a little bit tight
Next... good question, probably building up my 78 collection which is quite underwhelming, but one of these days I'd really like an EMG Xa
Cheers Graham, no worries, I've linked a quick video below, using the 4 spring soundbox and a bamboo needle, the first of many I'm sure

Alex, either that record is a swinger (cannot quite see on the screen) of your motor needs servicing. There is quite a bit of pitch variation. A little bit of oiling goes a long way---especially on the governor felt. Sewing machine oil, of course.

Re: My new Expert Junior
I noticed it, though not on other records, I think there's a good chance it could be the record, the motor will be getting oiled anyway, the speed adjustment needs adjustment tooemgcr wrote:Alex, either that record is a swinger (cannot quite see on the screen) of your motor needs servicing. Re: My new Expert Junior
Alex that is one beautiful Expert. The oak cabinet has such wonderful grain patterns. It looks to have been well cared for.
The video illustrates what wonderful audio those paper mache horns can produced. Now you’ll have the joy of acquiring more records, experimenting with sound boxes and fiber needles.
I also noticed some brown wax cylinders resting on what looks to be a Thorens TD 160 turntable? I recently rescued one from getting tossed out. Now I’ve another project with a record player.
Regards,
Glenn
