It would look far better in landfill. It's complete and utter junk.
I would really disagree, I see this as someone's labor of love, and it's a really interesting piece to me and maybe to some others as well. I think whoever did this did a great job, and I would buy this and restore it, but I think the bid is already too high for what its worth to me.

Martin

I am surprised as to how high the bids have reached so far.

Well, at £ 232 someone thought it was more than just a little bit interesting.

I would say quite interesting I think this machine could be a WWI trench art piece
the workmanship is rather shoddy there are more nails that needed at the back and probably inside the thing is clearly made from scavenged parts but still bade in a way so it would look nice and it does eh, at the front
I have two trench made machines in my collection one made from ammo cases again using far too many nails the other made from Belgian bread ration boxes I need not tell too many nails so, this gramophone screams trench art to me
interesting phonographic developments came from the trenches like soldiers combining shot up searchlight bodies and tonearms to make reflector bells for gramophones akin to the famous Decca trench those searchlight bodies were made by nirona so we know what happened to that idea
