Definitely should leave the decal as it is! Otherwise the value will drop drastically. The glue of the transfer has discoloured over the years. It looks more obvious with flash on. Not too bad otherwise. Here is my 1950 102E.

Standard models were black (101 and 102)
Coloured ones were de luxe. The different codes for the early coloured 101s relate to crocodile-grained leathercloth, except for SB which is the short-lived dark blue (November 1928-February 1929). Light blue replaced it -- hence LB. Red Leather was RL for both 101 and 102.

MY APOLOGIES: SB was blue crocodile cloth. The dark blue cloth appears not to have had a code issued;it was simply listed as 'D. blue' in the monthly sales lists.

So I guess I didn't do too bad. It's definitely original blue! Two questions:

1. Does anyone here know someone in the UK who rebuilds soundboxes and replaces the rubber flange? It doesn't sound too bad, but I know how great these sound when they are in order.
2. What's up with the crank? Is there anyone that can fix the handle? Otherwise I can live with it for now!

The winding handle knob has been replaced, and it's appearance will be improved if painted gloss black. Handles regularly appear on UK eBay but are not cheap.

The diaphragm is held between felt gaskets which should not need replacing unless they have been damaged. Forum member Chunny has had the rubber flanges re-manufactured, and here is the link to his website :
