Somewhere in France?
If like me you are already fed up with Winter, which here in Somerset has so far been abnormally wet, cheer yourself up with a look at this pre-war beach scene. A family gathering with a picnic, a gramophone and enough wine to keep everyone happy.

I notice that there may be some kind of triangular shaped material at the front of the raised area which might represent something ?
I like the man on the left hand side - he reminds me of a 'swashbuckler' from 'the old days !
Maybe an HMV portable gramophone ?

The lid stay is on the wrong side for an HMV101, and pre-war 102's did not have plated case corners. Some Pathé portables had a stud inside the lid which held records through their centre holes. The fixing for that may be what we see on the outside of the lid.

The scene looks to be the area near Nice, France - looking toward Eze... a beautiful place.
