Re: l-door victrola
Congratulations, Tom! SO happy for you. Way to be astute!
(Did seller say where he found it and why he knew to buy it for $150?)
I'll try to look up how much one just sold for at auction in July...

Re: l-door victrola
Hey, sorry for the long responded I just got a new I phone so I will try and get pics sometime soon, I have the cabinet and hardware disassembled for cleaning and it's almost done. The guy I bought if from was far out in the country and was a chinchilla farmer he said that he bought it for his mom at auction for $100! BUT she said no and he sold it to make a small profit. The lid was COVERED in thick furniture paste and was hard to get off but the finish unders in good shape. While I'm at it I'll try and get pics of my l-19 that I still need to post pics of.

I'm sorry they aren't the best pictures but they give a pretty good idea of what it looks like.

Also it came with a half used pack of novelty multiuse phonograph needs they are a regular speartip phono needle but with a longer sharper point. When I get the time I plan on looking at them under a microscope and determine if they really work.
Here's the needle pack, my camera had a hard time focusing on the needles because of its odd point so I wasn't able to post photos of them.

Nice machine, Tom. Do you think the finish is original? I have a VTLA that is as dark as yours appears to be and I am not sure if the color is original or not. Very nice find-congratulations!!

Re: l-door victrola
I am 100% the finish is original, I think it's so dark is because it was covered in thick paste wax and dirt which probably protected it from fading and such. One thing that the pictures don't do justice for is the gold plating it is MINT, it was also covered in red furniture wax so it was a funny maroon color but after I washed them in ammonia they shine like a new penny . As everyone said these really are fun machines and I play it so much I am going through needles at an alarming rate.
Happy holidays!
