Was this really made for records ? seems rather large !

Looks like the top could well have been designed for records.

Why is it 14" deep ? 14" Pathé records ? are there 14" records in the US ?

Possibly just to make it easier to lift the records out by the edges.

One thing gets me - How is this "Art Deco" - it has Queen Anne feet!

Agree. Looks rather handsome to me, but a real stretch to call it Art Deco.
