A bizarre combination of HMV and Columbia, I think?

Definately, but I shall refrain from advising the seller, I tried it once and got a very nasty reply. If the seller is of an age not to have seen a gramophone before, then I suppose it's understandable that they genuinely think it's original. However the bidder is probably just as uninformed, so let's just hope both parties will be happy with the deal.

I see somebody else (not me) did point out that it was two machines put together. I think this question was visible at the bottom of the listing while the bidding was "just" £33.

Despite this, it went on to make £80.98!

Obviously a couple of people wanted to collect a gramophone in person in Bristol, and didn't really care whether it was genuine or not.

Some people, even today, just buy gramophones to play records.

Cheers,
David.
