I had planned to do that if the price does not get nutty.

The topic heading reminds me of the time a friend brought me three boxes of classical 78s he won at an auction (a "real," not a virtual, auction); he bid because the fellow standing next to him indicated he would use them for target practice, and my friend didn't want that to happen!

When we were boys, my older brother used our Great Grandfather's Edison DD's for target practice with his new 12 gauge shot gun. I now have the surviving discs, that I am PLAYING ! Lord knows what desirable discs were shot up. Mike

I once met an old timer that used wax cylinders as targets. As kids, he and his brother would set them on fence posts and shoot at them with slingshots.

If we had had cylinders, my brother would have shot them up too! To this day, my brother can't tolerate hearing an Edison record PLAYED or a Victrola either; he doesn't visit my house at all. Mike

25 Diamond Discs are pretty heavy, and if the seller packs them decently they could be bulky too.

Yes, but there were 2 decent electrics in there, plus a several Christmas records and a few other goodies. "Henry's Made a Lady Out of Lizzie" by itself would be $25-$50, or perhaps even more to the right buyer.

Sadly I was the underbidder...
