eBay Vic II sold for $2801 ???

Post by alang »

Maybe I'm missing something, but this seems excessive for an average Vic II with incorrect brake, missing horn and crank escutcheon. 35 bids with 3 bidders going over $2000.

Add to this the Edison standard that sold this week for $6,100 and I think some of mine will be on Ebay soon.

I thought it was bizarre too, and wondered if there was something I wasn't seeing.

Did it have a horn, I did not see a picture of one.

Doesn't mention a horn anywhere.

A case of shill bidding, or a bidding war between uninformed buyers?

Like I said, no horn, no crank escutcheon, and someone replaced the bullet brake with this non-Victor brake.

I also thought shill bidding, but was surprised how many people went up to $2000 on this.

Unless shill bidders are becoming far more savy these days, it doesn't look like a shill (the non-winning bidder has decent feed back and bid on several other items recently, with only this item being this sellers)...uless the shill accidentially won. Looks like a few folks just either don't know what the market is currently like, really HAD TO HAVE a Vic II NOW, or just got a little too caught up in bidding. In other related news, I saw a VV-VI data plate just go for $175. Not Vic-VI, but a VV. It doesn't suprise me when I see dataplates for external horn machines go for over $100, but a VV-VI? I've seen the whole machine go for that price in the not so distant past.
