Re: VV-XVIII on Ebay
I wouldn't go two grand on it, that's for certain. In that shape, I don't know what a good value would be...$800?

Re: VV-XVIII on Ebay
Just to be clear, I wasn't knocking the machine's condition; only the claim that the seller "never wound it up" despite it being the "prize of my collection."

That is WAY overpriced - thanks to the internet these are a bit less rare than they used to seem.

That's very strange- isn't that the first thing you do when you get a wind up phonograph? He owned it for over a year and never tried winding it up- even just to see what happens??phonogfp wrote:Just to be clear, I wasn't knocking the machine's condition; only the claim that the seller "never wound it up" despite it being the "prize of my collection."

Honestly, it would probably take 30 seconds to wind it up and test it- even if it was just done for the eBay description.

Wayne (gramophone78), all I can say is that you have sharp eyes! For whatever reason, after a mere 18 months the bloom appears to be off the rose for Mr. Spicoli and his VV-XVIII.
