Victrola 9-55 eBay

Post by gemering »

I got excited when I saw this listing, until the photo of the interior showed what looks like a '50's turntable.
Can someone post a picture of the interior of an original 9-55?
Thank you,
Gene

Not only is the turntable a replacement, the entire radio setup is also.

You can see what the changer & radio panel should look like in the photos on this page --

BTW, in case anyone needs it, a schematic for the 9-55 is available from this page -- http://www.nostalgiaair.org/Resources/275/M0040275.htm (Click on the floppy disc icon to download the PDF version.)

I see nobody bid on it. It is a shame it was altered, as these are beautiful machines and the early changer is fascinating to watch. The Radiola 28s can be a pain to get repaired though, and I expect parts for that changer might be hard to come by. That could be why it got converted at some point.

The 28s had the dreaded catacomb housing many of its electronics buried in some sort of resin and they operated on 10, count 'um, 10 batteries! The wiring loom on the still unrestored 28 in my 9-15 looks like an accident in a spaghetti factory.
