Great buy. A good one to clean up and keep it as is. It will probably clean up nicely Tom B

Very happy for you!
Let's see how that diamond in the rough cleans up.
Please post some post-GoJo photos.
Best of luck,

Thanks, I'll be sure to post some photos when finished. I haven't seen any indications this machine was tampered with. I will never complain about CL again

Well took the base plate off and the motor is clean as a whistle. If I reach up in there and put pressure on the the belt tensioner it runs great Looks like all I need is a belt. I have some leather but I think it is too thick, but I'm going to try and whip one up.....Cheers

Re: Edison GEM
I too had a Model C Gem with the early single stripes. Sold it in the mid- 90s to pay for something else, and always had a little tinge of regret.drboruff wrote:Congratulations on a great find. The Gem is clearly a model C, but I don't recall ever seeing a model C with single gold stripes like found on A and B models. I always thought the differences between the B and C models was the C had no end gate and was equipped with more decorative double gold stripes like on the later models D and E. I assume this is a very early example of a C...and am curious if others have seen model Cs with single gold stripes.

Re: Edison GEM
Well my GEM C made a trip to George V. and is back home, playing away. I only did minor cleaning and did not touch the horn. Definitely will be hard to beat this $25. find...
