Hi,

I'm selling this rare item on eBay. The box is very difficult to come by.

You mention the earlier ones are better made. Is there some trait to look for to determine when they were made, or are the same parts of better quality in the earlier version?

From 1936 all were date coded. There's a small ivorine plate under the turntable; look for the letter B wih a number under it - add the number to 1936 and you have the year (e.g. B/4 = 1940). Absence of the plate would denote 1936 or earlier. I believe the 102c (as per the OP's example) was introduced in 1935.
