Unusual Birch Portable Phonograph on Ebay

Post by OrthoFan »

I've seen a few models of portables, where the horn's mouth faces front, but not one like this, designed to closely resemble an all-electric model:

I'd love to know what the horn looks like.

That might be an interesting machine... IF it weren't for that horrid color...

I agree about the color, but I'd still love to know what it sounds like--restored, of course. I don't do eBay, so I'll never know. I guess a person could always apply some stenciled black cats and a few bats on it. It would be great for a Halloween party.

BTW, I suspect Birch offered an all electric model in an identical case, but haven't been able to confirm it yet.

That case is almost identical to the RCA special model J. It looks like Birch built a couple of the special RCAs.
