Post by CarlosV »

Here for your consternation is a 1920's Pacent Phonovox Electric Reproducer. Time-to-time, I will list a refurbished reproducer, This work is truly a labor of love. Here offered is fun way to experience your phonograph playing experience.

I must say it is somewhat unsettling... I know it probably isn't, but it looks like quite the record-ruiner.

No more so than any other electric pickup of the time. I have a GRAWOR pickup & I'd estimate it to be about the weight of an Orthophonic soundbox. The big problem was a lack of compliance in the mounting of the needle bar.

Here - courtesy of Norman Field - is more information on them than you'd ever want: http://www.normanfield.com/pickups.htm

That's probably the reason the seller offers it for your "consternation"

Do they work well? I take it that they act like a regular reproducer and the needle needs to be changed after each use. Tom B
