I'm not sure what this machine is

Looks like a Vic II with the wrong soundbox. Price is a bit aggressive in my opinion since the crank is also wrong and it’s missing the escutcheon and Exhibition soundbox. With some love, it would clean up well I think, but I’d have I get it for about half what they are asking.

Worth about $400 as is.

I think that it is worth a fair amount more than that, (but well below the advertised price). The back bracket and tone arm are a few hundred and that looks like a fairly nice petal horn. I would pay $1000.00 as it sits. The stand looks a little small, but it would look nice under my Victor Royal.

I like the II, although I like my early version better. Still a handsome and fairly compact machine and another $200.00 and some elbow grease should put it right again.

Another factor is the wrong crank. An original can be a little pricey. I can't tell by the picture, but it looks like the crank escutcheon is missing, too. Those early ones, also fetch some bucks, also.

I must be going to the wrong places. Can you really get a pair of these for $1000.00? The horn looks nice and looks all original. The escutcheon is there, it is not attached, (shown in the ad).

Good morning. You sure can! With the market the way it is today, and considering this machine to be relatively common (don't get me wrong...I will always favor these OS horn Victors), you may certainly be able to grab them for that. But, then again...I attended an estate sale a year or so ago, where a Vic III had set out in the rain all night. Machine appeared complete, yet all nickel parts had long ago rusted, and the horn demanded restoration. I believe it also had broken springs, and whatever else that you will encounter once you start peeling back the layers. As we all know...it just takes 2 people who love to have an audience observe them throwing their money around. Twelve hundred dollars later, the machine sold. Like this, there remain hundreds and hundreds of stories out there regarding prices realized, and estimated valuation.

I would agree with $400 - $500. Paid $325 for a late Victor one. They painted the back bracket and horn elbow . Wrong horn and refinished the cabinet. Plays great but will need some reworking cosmetically.
