I don't believe it to be refinished. I believe it is original, and seems to have been regularly conditioned for almost 100 years.

Though, we're certainly not experts, so no sure idea. The patent sticker on the back has peeled away partially and you can see the difference in wood tone where it peeled away where sun/light over time has turned the surrounding wood darker, but doesn't seem to have been refinished? If there's a way to provide other pictures with some kind of indication as to whether refinished or not, we can provide that.

This machine was reportedly (by original seller) from a single family/owner estate and we were fortunate enough to come across it at just the right time a couple years back.

It's a beautiful machine--we just had to recently move/consolidate several homes and this no longer fits. :(

That's a pretty aggressive price for a Victrola XI, just my honest opinion.

@Brandon: Thank you! We suspected this, but obviously don't have a lot of experience with much more than using these machines. Obviously a common model, but we were trying to hit in the low-middle of estimates (considering the records and condition). But that was why we wanted to post here, so we appreciate that feedback(!), and perhaps we'll consider lowering after a few visits to vintage/consignment stores in the area.

These are going for about $100 - $150 at auction in the DC area. No idea what they bring retail. The needle tin and reproducer box add some to that price and maybe the records, but those are like stamps (some have high value and others do not), but it doesn't hurt to ask. It's a pretty machine, but a common one.

it's not an unreasonable retail price for the gramophone bits and pieces and 140 discs leave it on sale it's not for a collector ( so no one on this forum ) but someone will love it :D the vintage/consignment stores in the area.
will only want to give you $100  and sell it and the records for $550

"I may be wrong" by Sam Lanin & Irving Kaufman on Perfect is a decent record, but not expensive...

@rizbone: Thank you. As suspected. We were hoping this might retail better, but yeah, that seems to be the story at auction/consignment places so far here and in Western PA.

@soundgen: Sadly, no such luck in our collection. We are taking a closer look at the records now, though!

@Curt A: Thanks, that's neat--never thought to just listen to these on YouTube instead of digging needles through each track to get a feel for them. Very nice!
