Aha! And it's a real one!
This looks like a job for....
CRAZY VICTROLA GUY!
(I'll be in poverty after this one if I can convince them to ship. Farewell, O recent paycheck; we hardly knew thee )

Well, the eBay did say that there was another offer...Competition!!
I suppose whichever one of us gets it, has got a nice project on their hands. Let's make a deal--whoever wins is going to have to post a follow-the-restoration, capeesh?
(edit)rgordon, looks like you nailed it! Felicitations on a mighty fine talking machine!

Darn it! I saw this earlier and my parents agreed that we should make an offer, should've done it when I had the chance .

Why even bother making an offer and waiting and risking losing out on a deal like this when the buy it now is/was so cheap to begin with? I mean no offense here, but does an asking price, no matter how low, always have to be the start of a negotiation?

What I meant by my previous comment is that I would employ the "Make an Offer" function of the auction, not try to low ball the initial bid. I don't believe there was a Buy it Now button. I would've done that since the auction was unlikely to continue, someone would email them and give them an offer they couldn't resist. I agree, a reasonable price shouldn't be haggled. That said, if someone has a Victrola XVI on Facebook Market priced at $300 and it sits there for months, offering $150 is reasonable since it's been for sale for a while. FYI - eBay only works one of 5 ways:GregVTLA wrote:What I meant by my previous comment is that I would employ the "Make an Offer" function of the auction, not try to low ball the initial bid. I don't believe there was a Buy it Now button.
1) Buy it Now
2) Buy it Now or Best Offer
3) Auction
4) Auction with Buy it Now
5) Auction with Reserve
I believe this machine was listed as Buy it Now or Best Offer.
