GT backmount Gramophone Phonograph on eBay

Post by melvind »

This machine is something I have never seen before, but I do not know very much about G&T machines. This one has a rigid arm. Was that done in England at the same time as it was on a few models in the USA? I think it is a really interesting looking machine.

The last picture added here shows extra holes in the case. Do you suppose this was a conversion from a front mount machine to a rear mount?

This machine has the rare "Sound Arm", as fitted to some travelling arm machines either as an upgrade by the owner or at the factory to make stocks of obsolescent models more saleable. It was soon replaced by the Gooseneck arm.

Thanks for the info. Looks like a really nice machine with a rare upgrade that makes it a very nice machine. I hope someone that appreciates such a nice upgrade gets it.
