I hope it's okay to post this here and just mention that I have never seen an HMV 102 with a green 'base'.

The green appears to be green felt stretched over the motor board. Not an expert on these machines in the least, but I would wager that was not an original feature of these machines.

A black HMV 102 can have one of three different motor boards depending on the year and model :
102 and 102A 1931-1933 : Metal with wood grain effect.
102B to 102D 1933-1948 : Polished wood.
102E to 102H 1948 on : Black leathercloth.
