A SPRING ON THE MOTOR HAS BROKEN AND WILL NOT WIND. IN ADDITION IT HAS EXCESSIVE GEAR WEAR AND I HAVE BEEN TOLD IT IS BEYOND REPAIR.

Guess that makes this auction for some nice but expensive parts. Jerry B.

The springs can be repaired, and the gears replaced. Other than that, the machine is very nice. This late model BI is not too often seen.

I wouldn't think for that much money you'd have to deal with broken springs and stripped gears. Jerry

No obvious stripped gears in the photos. Besides, even if it did have a bad gear, it would most likely be just one. That and a broken spring should be no big deal for a really nice & clean machine like that.

Interesting to see the different variations of the BI. For example: mine has the 2 spring motor with centrally located crank; the motor board is hinged at the side; there is no turntable ring; no Dolcer mute; and the case has only the profile decal, without the banner.

A pity there is not a more detailed database to put these variations into some sort of order.

As for the eBay machine, the most likely candidate for a stripped gear would probably be the fiber gear on the spindle.

I checked eBay and the item is no longer available. Maybe Harvey or JerryVan bought it. :) The machine had good possibilities and could be a very nice machine with repairs. I made a comment about it being a group of expensive parts but I hope it will be brought back and not parted out. Jerry B.

Parted out? Hmmmm
Spring is easy and cheap. Replacement gears same. Why part out? Lets try to keep our history here not destroy it. LH
