I am not a member of ebay but saw this, this morning. I may be wrong but it seems in nice condition maybe.

I thought my HMV 102 was an early production model (No. 4774) but this seems to be even earlier - No. 2879.

I thought someone might want to make their own assessment etc.

It seems to have the No. 16 soundbox and the automatic brake people either love or hate.

I looked at the pictures on eBay. One of them shows an attachment that sits on the turntable. Is that to hold records while in transport? As a removable component, is it something often missing on these machines? I could easily see it being lost over time.

Oh yes, I forgot that that is shown in a photo and may be included in the sale maybe.

My understanding is that it was designed at the time to hold records in transport. I have read that they are often lost over time. I don't know whether they were sold as an accessory - mine doesn't have one.

I noticed two more ebay adverts for the record carrier - stating 'one with feet' and 'one with no feet' I don't know what the feet are nor the significance of having them or not having them.

I believe the earlier 102´s came with the record tray included. These are identifiable by metal pegs on the motor board, and the feet of the record tray would make contact with those pegs to keep the tray in place,

Later 102´s, that didn´t come with that record tray, also didn´t have the metal pegs. The tray could be bought as a separate accessory, but they didn´t have feet anymore, because without pegs on the motor board, those feet would be useless.

I believe that the record tray was discontinued early in WW2 as an economy measure. It was never reintroduced.
