I may be missing something here but it seems that the lid has been flattened and a cushion added to allow for additional seating ?

Location: The Somerset Levels, UK.
This is an HMV Model 130 which has a flat lid, not the Victrola style domed lid of lesser table models.
Let's hope that the cushion merely rests on the lid and has not been glued to it :shock: .
