An HMV 102 - grey ? - seen better days but

it needs rescuing, has history, seems a good price maybe, apparently it works and is a 'rare' colour. London is too far for me though.

The story if true, and the wonderfully rustic box containing the records, are very appealing!

It's a "Colonial" machine, possibly a 94, which was a double spring version of the 97. If you enlarge the picture, you can see the letters "HMV" underneath the trade mark picture. India was the only country to use these letter at the time, EMI didn't use them as a trade mark until the 1960s.

I would willingly have paid the "Buy It Now" price for the machine alone, had the seller been willing to post it. Had they listed it as an auction without the records, and offered postage, they would have got rather more than £40 for it.
