I'm impressed by how tight the grille cloth looks. Is is original cloth?

I think it's original. The prior owner (an antique collector) said he had made no "additions" to the machine.

I picked one of these up last month out of a storage locker for $40. Cabinet needs some care but everything else is there. One of the springs is unattached. What is the finish on the reproducer called?

I believe that's a "gunmetal" finish.
