Steam powered phonograph photo on UK eBay.

Post by epigramophone »

Steam powered gramophones and phonographs have been made in recent years, but the idea is not new.

Ya think? I'm dubious. For one, there's no governor visible. Every stationary steam engine that I'm familiar with has one, mounted on the machine somewhere. I suspect that the "boiler" and "firebox" are just shells housing a conventional spring-driven mechanism. Any comments, gang?

I see no visible linkage between the 'engine' and the phonograph...

And what is that crank doing there?
