Sad that this is what out world is coming to. As an addendum to this "steam punk" auction--I'd like to say that I was at Lowe's the other day to pick up some packing supplies to ship an amberola VIII (to keep the hobby moving forward) and saw a "Modern Decorator" magazine with the front cover completely used up with this statement: "INSIDE 12 NEW WAYS TO DISTRESS, FINISH AND PAINT YOUR NEW, OLD, AND ANTIQUE FURNITURE AND STEAMPUNK ITEMS." Some people consider themselves expert on this type of "destroyation" enough to put out their own "ideas" not!! Sigh!.........

Unbelievable auction, this G & T Gramophone with glass horn just sold for US$ 16000 in the salesroom and including auction charge it's US$ 20800

Who in the world pays so much for, as far as I can see, a Crapophone ?

Seems crazy to me, but in 1st century BC, Publilius Syrus wrote: "Something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it".
That still holds true today.
