Has anyone seen the North American Phonograph on eBay? The item number is 132860648451. The seller said he is going to let it run for the 7 days and whatever it sells for it sells for.

I’m surprised that this post hasn’t had more discussion on the possibilities of this machine.

Did You look real close at the cylinders in the case? The majority of them are North American Phonograph Company Cylinders. I spoke with the gentleman and he said there are about 45 of them. What a barn find this is.

I saw it when it was first listed but knew it would sell way beyond what my phono allowance is. Would have loved to be the lucky one that found it in the barn though

What I've learned from this is that one must open up the lid on ANY box that looks like it might hold a phonograph or records, not just the ones that we are accustomed to identifying as machines.

Who ever gets this, I hope they pick it up personally. Can you imagine all of that early brown wax wax in little tiny pieces from shipping? *shudders*

No doubt. Just imagining that is horrific.martinola wrote:Who ever gets this, I hope they pick it up personally. Can you imagine all of that early brown wax wax in little tiny pieces from shipping? *shudders*

Re: North American Phonograph on eBay
Realistically, the brown wax cylinders are probably covered with mold, even if they are intact... When I found the Columbia Type G, it came with a box of brown wax cylinders, none of which were playable...
