Where's a picture of the EMG?

It does seem strange that almost every lot is pictured except the Expert Senior.
I know the very knowledgeable seller and the machine. It comes from the home of a gentleman.

It may be genuine, but looks like an amateur paste job. The original Expert cabinet is much better done.

The machine is a "one off" built to a specific order, and is pictured on Page 69 of "The EMG Story". If you want something unique, this is it.

I don't dispute its authenticity, I had seen its photo in the book as well, but if you recall the Expert Junior I bought from Alastair, with its well-done matching base and nicely painted horn, it is much more pleasant to look at than his one. And such machines are so conspicuous that it is virtually impossible NOT to be noticed in anyone's collection, so aesthetics becomes somewhat relevant. Having said that, I have also an EMG 10 with its horn that is almost as large as this one, and with time got used to its elephantine grandeur. As to uniqueness, I presume each of the customizations made by Ginn is unique to a certain extent, as the start point for them is a third-party second-hand cabinet.

Is it just me or are these estimates awfully low?

Probably yes, but on the other hand apparently the Expert Senior is in fairly poor condition so that estimate might be only moderately low.

The EMG Mk IX at the auction in Yorkshire recently made less than £1000 hammer price, an extreme bargain despite the droopy horn, which just goes to show how variable saleroom prices can be.

It was ultimately declared as 'passed' - so I assume it didn't reach the reserve price or there were no bidders.
